6/5/10 Florida:  Search warrant executed: Horses seized from Highway 97 stable:  Three malnourished horses seized as search warrant was executed.  (photos)
3/20/10 Florida:  Miami paradise for abandoned horses:  Pregnant mare found abandoned with a fractured foot. Local SPCA bill for feed last month exceeded $10,000.  (video)
3/7/10 Florida:  Woefully neglected and sick horse rescued:  Worst case seen by rescuer who saved/placed 50 horses. Needs $2,000 for animal's upcoming surgery.   (photo)
12/20/09 Florida:  Horse rescue group needs help to care for horse:  Owner unemployed and unable to feed animal. Donations needed for rehabilitation. Since 2005, rescue group has worked 118 cases involving 487 horses. Has rescued 55 horses.   (photo)
12/16/09 Florida:  13 Underweight horses abandoned In Marion Co.:  County Animal Services took custody of 13 thoroughbred horses after owner abandoned them and failed to provide adequate care.     (photos)
12/14/09 Florida:  Neglected horses recovering:  Seven horses recovering at Marion County Animal Services; three others euthanized. Officials alerted to situation by complaint of multiple skinny horses and possible dead horse. Owners gave custody to Horse Protection Agency of Florida in lieu of Animal Services seizing them.  (photo)
12/4/09 Florida:  Horses' mouths to feed:  Marion County-based rescue asked to take in 56 unwanted horses Thanksgiving weekend. Didn't have enough food, enough space, manpower, or supplies and medicines, but founder took them anyway. Besides 56 new horses, she's also caring for another 61 at 150-acre farm. Says people calling every day, not able to feed their horses.  (photo)
11/13/09 Florida:  Ailing horses seized from Hernando County ranch:  County Animal Services removed six malnourished horses from residence that billed itself as a horse rescue and adoption facility.  Facility apparently operated mostly on donations and money earned from adoption fees, however they were no longer financially able to support the animals and were being evicted.  (photo)
11/12/09 Florida:  Emaciated horses confiscated in Hernando County:  Investigators removed nine horses from rescue; two in such bad shape they were euthanized. Website says rescue cares for unwanted and abused horses, but investigators say animals emaciated, not being taken care of.  (photo)
10/16/09 Florida:  Local equine business owners arrested on horse cruelty charges:  Two arrested on animal cruelty charges after starving horses were found on their property, face charges of confinement of animals without sufficient food or water. Nine horses transported; one euthanized by veterinarian. Donations sought for care.  (photo) (more photos)
9/1/09 Florida:  Levy County Sheriff's Office press release: Abandoned malnourished horse:  Witness discovered malnourished mare lying on ground that was unable to stand. Horse was determined to be so malnourished that it was euthanized at the scene. (photo)
8/19/09 Florida:  Horse horror: 11 emaciated equines rescued from ranch:  Nearly a dozen severely emaciated horses seized from Miami ranch by SPCA. Community asked to contribute to the cost of their care.  (photo)   (video)

8/8/09 Florida:  Yulee woman gives starving horse new hope:  Responding to Craigslist post offering horse for free, found animal in emaciated condition. Will be three months before there is a noticeable difference in horse's appearance; at least a year before she's fully recovered.  (photo)
8/6/09 Florida: Animal control seizes Southport horses:  Second time animal control called to property. Healthy horse weighs 1000-to-1400 lbs, but 4 animals were half that.  (photo)
7/20/09 North Dakota:  A second chance for miniature horses12 minis found in Florida with little to no food, water or shelter, during a period when the heat index was well above 100-degrees. Owners didn't want to give them up, even though animals were dying around them. Rescue is expecting five more horses from same Florida facility later this week.
