Forty animals confiscated near Edgeley, LaMoure County. Three colts and one mare lost after rescue. Numerous yearlings had to be weaned. Most were scored at 1 and 2; some were 3s.

Current Status: The animals were sold on auction. One foal was kept
in a sling, hung from the rafters, given IVs for about 2 weeks before it passed away.
Several animals are being nursed back to help by neighboring farmers/ranchers.

Lot: 35 Horses + 2 Donkeys

Found: Edgeley, LaMoure County. Authorities confiscated 35 horses and two donkeys from a farm and placed them in protective custody after several horses were found dead. Ten horses were given a body condition score on a scale of 1 to 9. They had scores between 1 and 2.5.

Current Status:
Three horses euthanized. Surviving horses placed in county custody for the time being under a ruling issued by Southeast Judicial District Court Judge Daniel Narum.

According to court records: Between last September and Jan. 21, owner deprived 21
horses of adequate care. Eight horses were found dead, some found under piles of snow.

Follow up: Owner
charged with 21 counts of mistreatment of animals (depriving horses
of proper food, water, shelter and adequate care), which are Class A misdemeanors.
